All other events will be located on the Furman campus and will be free of charge. | GREENVILLE, S.C. - U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY), broadcast journalist Lesley Stahl and Children's Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman will headline a major conference at Furman University Oct. 6-7 that will examine the role of women in politics.
The two-day conference, "Women and Politics: Transforming Public Leadership," will begin Monday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. with a program featuring Sen. Clinton, the former First Lady, and Stahl, co-editor and correspondent for the CBS News program "60 Minutes."
The conference will continue on Tuesday, Oct. 7 with four daylong roundtable discussions and a closing 8 p.m. address by Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund.
"Women and Politics: Transforming Public Leadership," is the second annual national conference sponsored by the university's Richard W. Riley Institute of Government, Politics and Public Leadership.

Shi unveiled the particulars of the "Women in Politics" conference at an on-campus news conference Thursday.The two-day program, which will feature Hillary Clinton, Lesley Stahl and Marian Wright Edelman, will take place Oct. 6-7. | Edelman will speak on "Women and Politics at the Grass Roots: A View from the Inside" at 8 p.m. Tuesday in McAlister Auditorium on the Furman campus.That lecture is free, as are all of the programs on Tuesday.
