111.7 Vice President for Enrollment

 

A. Background

Until 1992, all enrollment functions of the university reported to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean. In 1992 the new position of Vice President for Enrollment was created to oversee these activities.

 

B. Policy

The Vice President for Enrollment is responsible to the President for the activities of the Admissions, Financial Aid, Planning and Institutional Research, and Student Employment offices.

 

C. Guidelines

1. The Vice President for Enrollment is appointed by the President.

2. The following persons report directly to the Vice President for Enrollment:

  • Director of Admissions
  • Director of Financial Aid
  • Director of Planning and Institutional Research
  • Director of Student Employment

3. The duties and functions of this office include but are not restricted to:

  • implementing a comprehensive institutional marketing strategy, which includes coordination of all activities related to the recruitment, admission, enrollment, and retention of students;
  • being significantly involved in academic advising, orientation, and institutional research;
  • serving as budget supervisor for and work closely with the Admissions and Financial Aid offices in their day-to-day activities as well as their long-range plans;
  • serving on President’s Council, Administrative Council, Admissions, Financial Aid, Budget and Marketing committees;
  • working closely with the Marketing and Public Relations office and all areas of the University to ensure a positive image of Furman; and
  • serving as a liaison with the Development office for scholarship fundraising.
