152.1 Emeritus Professor or Emeritus Associate Professor |
A. Background Emeritus status is intended to honor distinguished Furman faculty during their retirement. |
B. Policy Retired faculty who have served Furman and the profession with distinction may be granted the title "Emeritus" with specified privileges. |
C. Guidelines
1. Faculty members who have held the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at the time of retirement and who have served at Furman for at least ten years are eligible. 2. The Faculty Status Committee and the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean will review eligible candidates and make recommendations to the President. The President recommends to the Trustees who approve the appointment. 3. The Emeritus Professor or Emeritus Associate Professor shall have the following special privileges:
