More About Assessment and Accountability at Furman

Furman participates regularly in a number of national assessments, including the Higher Education Research Institute's Cooperative Institutional Research Survey and Faculty Survey, the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), Noel-Levitz Student Satisfaction Inventory, and the Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA).  We survey every class of graduating seniors and we regularly survey Furman alumni.  Academic departments routinely solicit feedback from their graduates on the quality of their educational experience and the extent to which it prepared them for graduate work and careers.  Results from these and other assessment measures regularly lead to improvements in the student learning environment by addressing identified weaknesses and suggesting new initiaitives.  Such a process contributed to sweeping changes in Furman's curriculum, due to be implemented in the fall of 2008.
