Internships
|
|
|
Furman encourages all students to explore and learn about
the careers in which they have interest. Internship experience is an excellent
way for a student to accomplish this and to build a resume before entering
the job market upon graduation. Many parents help in this area by providing
internship information or the name of the contact person within the company
or agency where the parent works. Shadowing experiences permit a student
to observe an area of work over a short period of time. An externship
is similar to a shadowing experience but usually involves observing for
a longer period of time-several days. Please contact Susan Zeiger, Internship
Program Director at (864) 294-3166, if you are willing to provide help
with the internships, externships and shaddowing or career advising.

Furman Admissions Network
|
|
|
The Furman Admissions Network (FAN), a group of enthusiastic
volunteers, is dedicated to assisting our Admissions staff in recruiting
the brightest and best students to apply to Furman for admission. They
keep their eyes and ears open for the names of students who are interested
in attending the university and often contact prospective students and
their parents. Simply put, FAN members are ambassadors for the university.
The Furman parents perspectives are highly valuable to the college
search process. No one is more qualified to speak to the concerns of parents
whose student is searching for "just the right school."FAN acitivities
include: contacting the Admissions Office with the names and information
of prospective studentscontacting "hot prospects" in your area;
hosting and attending gatherings of incoming freshmen and prospective
students; and representing Furman at local college fairs. With students
from 48 states and 22 countries this year, Furman could be well represented
in nearly every part of the country and elsewhere! Please contact Courtenay
Laughlin Williams 89, assistant director of Admissions. Williams
coordinates the Furman Admissions Network and would enjoy hearing from
interested parents. You may reach her at (864) 294-2034 or at courtenay.williams@furman.edu.
