Orientation Information Furman introduces new students to academics and student life on campus through its five-day ORIENTATION experience. From the moment they arrive on campus until they step into their first academic class and beyond, Furman is committed to preparing new students for this new step in their life and assisting in their success at all levels. Furman's formal Orientation, unlike many other campuses, is conducted five days prior to the beginning of Fall semester classes, and continues informally after classes begin in various capacities. Orientation contains a vast array of programs and services for the new students designed to prepare them for the academic rigors at Furman, introduce them to their fellow classmates and upperclass leaders, connect with academic advisors to review class selection, provide helpful information about living and learning in a new environment, and offer interactive programs at which students can socialize, relax, and have fun! Orientation is administered out of the Office of Student Activities, although the entire Division of Student Life and the Academic Affairs Division collaborate to provide an overall outstanding orientation experience. And there are many student groups here to help new students in their transition, including the Student Orientation Staff, the Resident Assistants and Freshman Advisors in the Residence Halls, upperclass student leaders, and more! Enjoy the experience! Download the Orientation 2009 Schedule (PDF). | |||
