There are two types of membership in South Carolina Beta:

Associate membership

Associate membership is offered to any student who has an interest in a health-related career. These members may attend all AED events and conventions with the exception of annual elections, and they receive the monthly chapter newsletter. There is no GPA requirement; only a $10 fee is charged. Freshmen are welcome to join as associate members.

Full membership

Full membership is available to students beginning in the spring of their sophomore year. To be eligible, students must have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a math/science GPA of 3.0. A one-time intitiation fee is charged (in 2006, this was $85). The initiation ceremony is held every spring. Full members are entitled to all privileges and assume a responsibility to be active members.
