Campus Interviewing

If you are new to the on-campus recruiting process, the following will provide you with basic information:

Employers wishing to interview Furman students on campus should contact the Recruitment Coordinator to arrange their schedules. Interviews are scheduled September through November and January through May.

Interview Options:
Furman utilizes Paladin Job Link (part of the NACElink system) online campus recruiting scheduling program to coordinate all recruiting visits.  Recruiters can select from two options for their interview schedule: 1) open schedule, or 2) pre-select schedule, An open schedule is, as the name implies, open to all interested students. A schedule is set up and students simply select a guaranteed interview time through the Paladin Job Link system. The pre-select schedule gives the recruiter the opportunity to review the resumes and to select those students he/she wishes to interview. Student sign-ups are then completed online.

An additional option allows employers to conduct a Resume Collection in which the job opportunity is posted and students submit resumes but no campus interview date is initially scheduled.  If there is sufficient response from students, a subsequent interview date is set and selected students will then sign up.

Typical Interview Day: Interviews typically begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 5:00 pm, with lunch being scheduled from noon - 1:00pm. Unless other arrangements are requested, interviews are scheduled every 30 minutes. Special requests can be accommodated with adequate notice.

Campus Interviewing Process:

1. Contact Recruitment Coordinator to arrange a convenient interview date.

2. Complete Campus Recruiting information form and return it.

3. View resumes and make preselections online (hard copies of resumes can be mailed if recruiter does not have Web access).

4. Visit campus to conduct interviews on designated date.

Infomation sessions: One way to facilitate your recruiting visit is to host an information session prior to the interview date. This activity enables the employer to share company information with the students so that the individual interviews the next day can focus more on the interviewee. This type session also prepares the students for questions that they may want to ask during the interview. Interview sessions are typically held the night before the interviews.

Employer Survey: The office attempts to track the employment of its graduates. At the conclusion of each academic year, employers interviewing on campus or posting job announcements will be asked to complete a survey indicating offers, rejections, hires, and salaries.
