The introductory level of the Shucker Leadership Institute is designed for 25 Freshmen and Sophomore students. It is a first step toward becoming a student leader at Furman University. New Fellows meet in the fall term and then become Shucker Fellows in the spring.

In the New Fellow program, participants will attend interactive campus sessions that focus on the foundation of leadership.

The New Fellows will:

- Develop Self

- Seek opportunities

- Build personal capital

New Fellows will also attend a weekend retreat with interactive games and activities to encourage bonding between fellow participants.

Ongoing involvement in the community is a vital part of the Shucker Leadership Institute experience. Increased involvement in campus life and exposure to new people and resources provide New Fellows with many opportunities for personal growth and development.

New Fellow Applications are due August 28, 2009.
