Beckford guides faculty through historic vote

Make yourself a priority

Gale Sosebee signed up for a Body Fit resistance training class to take some time for herself and get in shape for her daughter's wedding. She found that exercise helped relieve stress, and she enjoyed feeling great after a tough workout. “I've seen my strength and stamina increase tremendously since being involved in the class,” Sosebee says, “I'm in the best shape that I've been in several years!”

As the Accounting Clerk for the Athletic Department, Gale has to find time to exercise like many other Furman staff members. “I suggest that you make yourself a priority along with all of the other things that you consider important,” Sosebee recommends. “You'll find that being in better shape keeps you focused and helps you complete your daily tasks with more zest.”

Sosebee also enjoys getting to know other Furman employees and students. “We all help each other and make sure everyone is comfortable in the group,” she says.

Body Fit is offered as a part of the Furman Fitness Center 's Group Exercise program in the Herman W. Lay Physical Activities Center. Other classes include Yoga, Pilates, Step, Cardio Kickboxing, Indoor Cycling, and Aqua Power. Classes are open to faculty, staff, students, dependents, and community members. Purchase a pass at the Fitness Center desk for unlimited access to all classes. The cost is $25 for the seven-week Winter and Summer terms and $40 for the 12-week Fall and Spring terms. Beginners are welcome and no equipment is necessary.
