MLK Holiday: A day on, not off

In a sermon delivered just two months before his 1968 assassination, Martin Luther King, Jr., told his Ebenezer Baptist Church congregation, "everybody can be great because everybody can serve." On January 20, Furman will heed the civil rights leader's call for service by celebrating the King holiday with the university's largest off-campus outreach project.

Construction on Paladin Plaza to begin in May

Move over Bell Tower, rose garden gazebo and Putto. Make room for a new Furman landmark. This May, work will begin on Sir Paladin and steed, a 17-foot cast bronze Paladin and horse that will dominate the entrance to the football stadium.

Santas for Sirrine project coming to a close

Seating for basketball events reduced

Timmons Arena will be a little cozier this winter. In an effort to create a rowdier, more intimate atmosphere for home basketball games, fan seating has been reduced from 5,000 to approximately 2,000.
