Furman 24 Clemson 24
The Furman men played Clemson to a 24-24 tie to in a pre-season warm up Sunday. The Paladins played Clemson evenly during the first of three, 30-mintue periods. Blair Barton slotted three penalty kicks to give Furman a 9-5 advantage.
The second period belonged
to the Tigers as Clemson continually recycled quick ball to score some breakaway
trys and keep the Furman defense on its heels. With Clemson holding a 24-12
lead, Furman regrouped and finally managed to get a bit of offensive rhythm
in the third period. Forwards Price Edwards and DJ Addington scored trys
during the final 15 minutes as the Paladins rallied to tie their Upstate
neighbor. Both teams had roughly 22-25 players and all logged field time
during the contest.
