Summer Housing Housing & Residence Life will provide housing accommodations for students during the summer weeks. Summer housing will be available from Sunday, June 6, 2010 @ 10 a.m. to Saturday, August 14, 2010 @ 12 noon. Important Dates & Deadlines:
Application Process: Students residing on campus for any reason (summer school, work, research, working for the university, etc.) between Sunday, June 6 and Saturday, August 14, must submit a May X / Summer Housing Application form to the Housing & Residence Life Office by 5 p.m., Monday, April 26. Do I have to be a Furman student to live on campus?: No. If you are working/interning in Greenville and need a place to live, you may submit the May X / Summer Housing Application form to the Housing & Residence Life Office by 5 p.m., Monday, April 26. You must also complete and return the Non-Furman Resident Deposit Form and $100 to the Student Business Center to serve as a summer housing damage deposit. ***Furman students will be assigned before we can commit to housing non-Furman residents.***
Priority: All students will be housed in North Village buildings A, B and C. Although Housing & Residence Life anticipates being able to accommodate all students who request summer housing, the staff reserves the right (based on space limitations) to deny summer housing to students who are not officially involved in some way with the University. Housing & Residence Life must assign students to both private bedroom apartments and shared bedroom apartments. Therefore, priority will be given to student requests based on their start-year in college. For example, a third-year student will be given priority over a second-year student.
Payment: You must pay your summer housing fees by going to the Student Business Center during the first week in campus housing. You are also required to submit the Summer Payment Form. Payment for the interim housing periods can also be paid at that office. The Student Business Center is located in the administration building. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Policies and Procedures: All policies and procedures outlined in The Helmsman apply to individuals living in campus housing during the summer. Transition from Summer to Fall Assignment: August 6 through August 8 All summer residents (only exceptions are non-Furman residents and Furman students not living in campus housing fall semester) must move to their fall assignment over this weekend. The housing rate for the final week of summer housing will be based on the a resident's summer assignment, not on their fall assignment. All students who move to their fall assignment must pay the summer housing rate for that final week, even if they do not actually stay there during that time. There will be no additional fee between August 14-22. Non-Furman residents and Furman students not living in campus housing during the fall semester must check out by noon on Saturday, August 14.
