Application Process:

Students residing on campus for any reason (summer school, work, research, working for the university, etc.) between Sunday, June 1 and Saturday, August 16, must submit a Summer Housing Application form to the University Housing Office by 5 p.m., Friday, May 9.

Do I have to be a Furman student to live on campus?:

No.  If you are working/interning in Greenville and need a place to live, you may submit the Summer Housing Application form to the University Housing Office by 5 p.m., Friday, May 9.  You must also complete and return the Non-Furman Resident Deposit Form and $100 to the Student Business Center to serve as a summer housing damage deposit.  ***Furman students will be assigned before we can commit to housing non-Furman residents.***

Priority:

All students will be housed in North Village buildings A, B and C. Although University Housing anticipates being able to accommodate all students who request summer housing, the staff reserves the right (based on space limitations) to deny summer housing to students who are not officially involved in some way with the University.

University Housing must assign students to both private bedroom apartments and shared bedroom apartments.  Therefore, priority will be given to student requests based on their start-year in college.  For example, a third-year student will be given priority over a second-year student.

Payment:

You must pay your summer housing fees by going to the Student Business Center during the first week in campus housing.  You are also required to submit the Summer Payment Form.  Payment for the interim housing periods can also be paid at that office.  The Student Business Center is located in the administration building.  Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Policies and Procedures:

All policies and procedures outlined in The Helmsman apply to individuals living in campus housing during the summer.

Interim Housing & Storage:

June 1 through June 7

University Housing facilities will officially shut down on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. ONLY THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY LIVING IN THEIR SUMMER ASSIGNMENT WILL BE ABLE TO LIVE IN NORTH VILLAGE between June 1 and June 7. The cost to live and/or have belongings in the assigned room will be $155 for a shared bedroom and $166 for a private bedroom.  Also, you must cooperate with the cleaning contractor that will be scheduled to clean the apartment prior to the arrival of others at check-in.  At least 48-hour notice will be given with instructions.

Those students who are assigned to summer housing and are not currently living in their summer assignment will need to vacate their current assignment by Friday, May 30 at 5:00 p.m. and can check-in to their summer assignment on Friday, June 6.  Interim housing is available on a first-come-first-serve basis.  You must pay $133 for an interim assignment.  Please contact Jason Cassidy at 294-2092 if you are interested.
