ALL rooms and apartments must be clean at the time you check out. In order for your room or apartment to be considered clean, the following tasks must be completed:
-
Remove all trash and personal items. Hall trash cans and reclycling bins will be removed on Friday, May 1st at 12pm, and trash rooms will close on the same day at 12pm. Trash must be placed in dumpsters only. Any trash found on the hall(s) will result in an assessment to each student assigned on the hall.
-
Vacuum/clean the floors. Clean out all cabinets, drawers and closets.
-
Clean desk tops and counter spaces.
-
Remove all posters, plas-t-tac, pictures, tape or other adhesive materials, etc. from the walls, door(s) and/or floor in both your room and hall.
-
DO NOT REMOVE LEASED LOFTS.
-
Remove all carpet from the building. (If you are not taking the carpet home, throw it in the large dumpster nearest your residence hall.) Failure to do so will result in an assessment.
-
Replace all University beds and/or furnishings to their original location and condition. Failure to replace original furnishings will result in an assessment to each room/apartment occupant.
-
University microfridges must be cleaned. Look for water damage on carpet and floors.
-
Cleaning tips: After unplugging and cleaning the microfridge, place a towel in the bottom of the freezer section and leave the door open. This will allow any ice to melt and be absorbed by the towel. Scrub all interior surfaces with a mild household cleaner. Remove all magnets, stickers, etc. from the exterior. After cleaning, leave both doors open and the unit unplugged.
-
Each resident of the room is responsible for the condition of the room upon its vacancy. Therefore, the first resident who checks out is not completely absolved of responsibility in the event that the room is not left in proper condition when the second resident checks out.
Failure to comply with the above guidelines will result in fines for each occupant of the room or hall as applicable.
