Furman University offers a summer program for students between the ages of 6 and 14 with academic or behavioral needs. The summer program provides an individualized educational program; a low teacher-student ratio; innovative, but also sound educational practices; and a final report is sent to parents. Before the summer program begins each student is evaluated individually.
The daily program includes academic as well as social goals. Classes are based on a 4 to 1 teacher ratio, with the classes for younger students having even lower ratios. Final reports are given to the parents, and to the school if requested by the parent.
Dates: July 6- July 30, 2009; Monday-Thursday
Time: 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Location: Sevier Middle School
Cost: $200.00
If you have a student whom you would like to recommend to attend Summer Learning Place, please discuss with that child's parent. Please inform others in your department about Summer Learning Place. We do accept some students who are not in special education but are struggling in the classroom.
