Minutes: Policies and Procedures Committee

Present: DeJong (chair), Gabbert (recorder), Horney, Lewis, DeLancy, Chesebro, Pierce

Minutes from 5/21 and 9/04 were provided and approved.

File 185.5 Class Load
The change from hour to credit will be made and the policy will be voted on in the next faculty meeting as a second reading of the policy.

File 190.1 Curriculum Committee Operating Procedures
The policy needs to be put in the appropriate format showing changes from previous policy and a rationale statement needs to be provided.

All references to May Experience Committee will be changed to the ad hoc May Experience Committee. Other minor changes were proposed and these suggestions will be sent to the Curriculum Committee for review.

File 168.1 Sabbatical Leaves
The change suggested from 5/21 was made and numbering problems were resolved. DeJong will compose the final draft highlighting changes to original policy and post to the conference for P&P Committee review. The policy will be sent to faculty for vote.

File 157.4 Probationary Appointment
The policy was tabled at the last faculty meeting and the policy will be returned to Status with comments from the faculty meeting and recommendation that they seek faculty input and AAUP input on how to differentiate different groups of faculty in various policies.

The next meeting of the Policies and Procedures Committee will be Thursday, September 25th 4:00- 5:30pm.
