PSC :Readings in Political Thought
This course, patterned on the model of a reading group, provides students with a three week immersion experience focused on a significant author or theme in the tradition of political philosophy.
REL : The Brothers Karamazov
This course is an intensive study of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novel, The Brothers Karamazov. The course reflects on the many issues this epic novel raises: the possibility of faith, Christianity as an organized religion, the relation of beauty to truth, the confrontation between good and evil, the nature of history, and the existence of God. Emphasis will be on the novel itself, but some attention will be given to critical sources.

HST 357: Travel Study in India (4 credit course)
The course focuses on the 16th through 21st century interactions between various players in India’s complex political and sociocultural past. While attention is given to Mughal, British, nationalist, and postcolonial periods, the course also views India as both a product and producer of long-distance trade, migration, power plays, and global influence. MXP : Southern Living: An Inside Perspective
An introduction to the process of publishing a magazine through observation and activities at the Southern Living operations in Birmingham, Alabama. Students will learn about the craft of magazine writing, gain deeper insight into the teamwork and decision making of a magazine staff, and reflect upon the challenges facing magazines attempting to adapt to cultural and technological changes.
PHL 171: Themes in Global Justice
May Experience course to El Salvador to meet with human rights groups, politicians, community leaders, NGOs, environmental groups, religious leaders, women's groups, labor groups, etc., to investigate the topic of justice in the Global South. Endorsed

REL : Christianities & Religious Pluralism in India (4 credit course)
Study of various Christian traditions in their Indian Context and in relation to the many religious traditions of India, especially Hinduism. The course considers the issue of religious pluralism (how Christianity understands its theological, ethical, and social identity in relation to other religions of India) and that of cultural influence (how other religious traditions have influenced belief and practice in Indian Christianity).
