HOW TO APPLY FOR SUMMER FINANCIAL AID

Loans are the only financial aid options available to students for summer terms. Please be advised that summer school is the end of the 2008-2009 academic year. To be considered for federal financial aid, you must have a 2008-2009 FAFSA on file. Also, you must have federal loan eligibility remaining from the current academic year. Please note: You must file a FAFSA before June 30, 2009 to be considered for loans for summer term classes in 2009. There are two (2) types of loans for which you may apply for the 2009 summer terms:

  • Federal Stafford Loan
  • Alternative Loan

If you are applying for a Federal Stafford loan for summer, you must be enrolled at least half-time or six (6) credits and you must complete the following:

  • 2008-2009 FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Include Furman's Title IV code - 003434.
