WELCOME to FURMAN UNIVERSITY FINANCIAL AID
At Furman, you'll find a comprehensive program of financial assistance. We offer traditional sources of financial aid, as well as academic and special scholarships to students who will enrich the Furman community through their academic ability and special talents. Our own scholarships and grants, combined with federal and state assistance and wise financial planning, enable most students to enjoy the full benefits of Furman.
You may be eligible for federal grants and loans, work-study programs, state tuition grants, and scholarships offered by outside agencies, groups and individuals. To determine your personal Financial Aid Package, we have outlined the recommended steps.
Our Mission Statement
APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID
Furman Financial Aid and Scholarship Application - The Office of Financial Aid requests that each student, regardless of the type of financial aid that is requested, complete an application form annually. This information helps our staff determine the best financial package for you and helps us to keep relevant information about you updated in your confidential Financial Aid record.
The application does require your signature in some sections. Therefore, please print, complete, sign and submit to the Office of Financial Aid.
Need-Based Financial Assistance In addition to completing the Furman Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid (above), all students planning to be considered for any need-based financial assistance, must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The easiest and quickest way to complete this application is the FAFSA on the Web . For important information about filing the FAFSA, including deadlines, see FASFA info.

FEDERAL LOAN PROGRAMS
All Federal Family Education Loan Programs (FFELP) are available through Furman's preferred Lender, South Carolina Student Loan (SCSL) or other commercial lenders participating in student loan programs. Currently, our preferred lender for Federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans and PLUS loans, as well as private alternative loans, is South Carolina Student Loan (SCSL). We have selected SCSL because of the value, reliability and service we receive from them as well as our benefits, customer service, technology and the variety of loan products they provide. Important Reminder: Keep in mind that you have the right to select any lender for your student loans.
In order to receive a Federal student loan, the first requirement is completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A FAFSA must be submitted each academic year. The easiest and quickest way to complete this application is the FAFSA on the Web. For important information about filing the FAFSA, including deadlines, see FAFSA info.
