Alexandria Christine Pauluhn, Class of 2009
Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri

"When I came to Furman, I knew that I was going to major in French and 'something else,' I just could not decide what. In the spring of 2007, I took Dr. Nelsen’s Politics of the European Union class and I was instantly hooked on the subject of international politics. Soon after I returned from study abroad in Versailles, France, I declared my poli sci major.

The Furman Political Science department has helped me to succeed inside and outside of Furman. My poli sci courses are the classes I look forward to attending and I have really enjoyed getting to know many professors, including Dr. Nelsen and Professor Lambert, outside of the classroom. It is through the advice and recommendation of several members of the political science department that I am going on to graduate school in Europe as a Rotary Scholar. I plan to pursue my master’s degree in Diplomacy and European Studies and I wish to continue working in politics afterward. I would not be where I am without the encouragement and help of so many faculty members."
