Medical Missions

Many Furman students are interested in pursuing a career in medicine so that they can then participate in Medical Missions.  In many cases you need to be either in medical school or have already attained you medical degree.  However, there are ways that you can participate during your undergraduate years at Furman.  One of the best ways to become involved is through the Collegiate Educational Service Corps (CESC).  The Collegiate Educational Service Corps is part of Furman University's Student Center Program.  CESC began 31 years ago under the leadership of six students.  During the first year, 75 students worked in 18 agencies; last year well over 1,500 students participated in some phase of CESC's program in 80 agencies.  In two previous years, Service Corps has been named as one of four finalists in the National Center for Voluntary Action's annual award in "recognition of outstanding volunteer service and achievement."  There are other local organizations like Hands on Greenville (HOG) that offer you a chance to volunteer your time and skills to make the Greenville committee a good place to live.
