Steve Watson

Jazz guitarist Steve Watson, a South Carolina native, has been active in the jazz and commercial music business for over 25 years. His guitar has been featured in many different ways, including on the soundtracks to popular television series Hill Street Blues, Magnum, P.I., L.A. Law, The A-Team, Murder, She Wrote, and Simon and Simon, as well as on a number of motion picture soundtracks and television and radio commercials. He has also recorded or performed with Bruce Hornsby, B.B. King, Bob Hope, Bernadette Peters, Dolly Parton, Mike Post, Chris Vadala, Earl Klugh, Larry Coryell, John Stowell, and the Greenville Symphony Orchestra. His own self-titled jazz trio CD received considerable acclaim. He is a mainstay on the local and regional music scene.

Steve is also an active educator. He has taught for 15 years at the Fine Arts Center of the Greenville School District, leading a very successful jazz guitar program that he developed. He has also served on the faculties at the University of Southern California, the University of Miami, and the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. He is the President of WatsonWood Music, Inc., a highly successful private music school and retail center in Greenville.
