Steve Watson

Steve Watson graduated from Newberry College with a BA in 1974 and The University of Miami (Coral Gables, Florida) with a MM in 1977.
 
Mr. Watson has performed all over the world. He was a member of The University of Miami Concert Jazz Band that toured Switzerland, Cyprus, Syria, Jordon, Egypt, and Tunisia.  From 1978 through1984 he was a member of The Bruce Hornsby Band. After moving to Los Angeles he became a studio guitarist for television, movies and records. His credits include Hill Street Blues, Magnum PI, The A-Team, Hunter, Hardcastle and McCormick, Riptide, Murder She Wrote, LA Law, Big Business, Simon and Simon, Quantum Leap, The Young Riders, Sonny Spoon, The Greatest American Hero, Young Guns, Trains, Planes and Autos, Sixteen Candles, Rhinestone, Dragnet, Dr. Detroit, River Rats, Into the Night and The Dolly Parton variety television show. He recorded commercials for Coors, Budweiser, 7-11, Acura, Honda and Toyota.  Mr. Watson also served as an adjunct professor at The University of Southern California from 1981-1990 and lecturer at The University of Miami in 1977-1978.
 
Mr. Watson is President of WatsonWood Music, Inc.,  Director of Jazz Studies at The Fine Arts Center, an art magnet high school (Greenville County), and a lecturer at Furman University. He is performing all over the upstate of South Carolina with current band members Greg Alewine, Hazen Bannister and the former Marshall Tucker drummer, Paul Riddle. 

Watson played a concert on April 10th 2008 in North Carolina with film composer Ray Bunch. It was Ray Bunch day in Goldsboro North Carolina. Also on May 11th 2008 Steve played the first concert for Upstate Music Cares at the Greenville Little Theatre. He and Paul Riddle formed this non- profit organization to benefit local charities.  $ 21,000 was raised at the event. The plans are to hold this concert once a year.  Mr. Watson currently lives with his wife of 30 years, Susan, in Greenville SC.
