Steven W. Walter

Steven Walter is in demand as a solo and chamber music recitalist throughout the United States, and has performed as guest soloist with orchestras in the Southeastern United States and abroad. Walter has also been a major prizewinner of the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America International Solo Competition. A dedicated teacher, Dr. Walter joined the faculty of Furman University in 1997 and the South Carolina Governors School for the Arts and Humanities in 1998. Dr. Walter has studied guitar with many of the world's greatest performers and teachers, and was teaching assistant to Professor Bruce Holzman at Florida State University for four years. His first solo CD was released in 2000 on the Sonari label. Dr. Walter is a native of Chicago, where he received early musical training in guitar and percussion.
