CHURCH MUSIC DEGREE


The Bachelor of Music degree is offered with a major in Performance, CHURCH MUSIC, Music Education (vocal/instrumental), or Music Theory.  Applied lesson study within the CHURCH MUSIC degree focuses on voice and keyboard (organ or piano).  An appropriate level of vocal and keyboard ability is required for entry into the degree track.  The CHURCH MUSIC degree includes the following criteria/areas of study.
  • 18 semester hours in the major applied field (organ or voice)
  • 6 semester hours in the secondary applied field (voice, organ or piano)
  • Large Ensemble membership/participation every term (typically vocal ensemble)
  • Music Theory
  • Music Technology
  • Music History and Literature
  • Music Philosophy
  • Conducting
  • Form and Analysis
  • Piano Proficiency
  • Recital Attendance and Participation
  • 16th Century Counterpoint
  • Composition
