...for ’cellists of all ages from near beginners to professionals!

This September the South Carolina chapter of the American String Teacher’s Association presents their annual ’Cello Choir Weekend at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.  Support comes from Furman and the Greenville Fine Arts Center. The event will begin on Friday with afternoon master-classes and an evening joint recital in the Daniel Recital Hall, and will continue on Saturday with rehearsals and clinics, all culminating in an early Saturday evening performance of ’cello choir music in Furman's McAlister Auditorium.

The SCASTA ’Cello Choir has been an annual event since it first took place at the University of South Carolina in Columbia in 1980.  For the first 20 years it alternated annually between Furman and USC, and during the last several years it has also taken place at Bob Jones University and Converse College.  Additional sponsors of this year’s event include Bernhardt House of Violins, Jim Clinton Violins, and Reuning and Son Violins.

8 pm – Recital by Gregory Sauer, Anthony Arnone and Christopher Hutton
      Free admission to registered ’cello choir participants
      Additional Tickets:  $15/adult, $5/students

Saturday, September 13, 2008:
8-8:45am Registration
9-5pm – Cello Choir rehearsals, clinics, and master classes
5:30 pm – Cello Choir concert - Free Admission, Public Welcome
