Introduction to the concepts of biology, emphasizing the diversity and similarity of life. Topics include cell metabolism, evolution, taxonomy, and the physiological and structural adaptations of organisms to their environments. Laboratories emphasize an investigative approach. Designed for science majors. Credit cannot be earned for both Biology 11 and 16. (Lab fee required.)

Study of the basic principles common to living organisms, including cell structure and function, genetics, classification of organisms, organismal physiology, behavior, ecology and evolution.
