The Charles E. Daniel Memorial Chapel is available
for funerals or memorial services for persons who have a connection
to Furman University. There is no facilities charge for funerals or
memorial services.
Eligibility
The deceased must have met one of the following criteria in order
for a funeral or memorial service to be held at the Charles E. Daniel
Memorial Chapel:
1. Current or retired employee, or member of his/her
immediate family.
2. Current student enrolled in a degree program.
3. Alumnus/a of Furman University.
4. Trustee, advisory council member, or benefactor of Furman University.
Time Constraints
The Chapel will be prepared one hour prior to the start of the
service. The prelude may begin no earlier than 30 minutes prior
to the start of the service. The service may be no longer than one
hour. There may be up to 15 minutes of music following the end of
the service. All guests and family are expected to have left the
sanctuary one half-hour after the end of the service.
The total amount of time that the Chapel will devote
to any funeral or memorial service shall not exceed two hours. Depending
on availability, the reception area may be available following the
service for the family to receive friends.
