Location

One of Furman's most attractive features is its location. Nestled in the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with their multitude of hiking and camping opportunities, the campus is only a short drive from such cities as Ashville and Charlotte. You can visit Sassafras Mountain, which at 3,544 ft is the highest point in SC. From the summit, it's possible to view four states: Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Visit the historic revolutionary war battlefield of Cowpens, or the numerous fresh peach and apple orchards in the upstate. No matter what your interests, you'll find something to do within easy reach of Furman's campus.

Furman University is located just 5 miles outside of Greenville, SC. Greenville is in close proximity to Atlanta, Asheville, and Charlotte. It is easily accessible by road, rail, and air. There are several hotels that can accommodate the Furman area and also have Furman rates.

Greenville, population 772,973, is a beautiful town that is full of things to do and see. The downtown area is only a short drive away from Furman’s campus and there are plenty of places there to shop while taking in the quaint downtown atmosphere. Downtown Greenville is overflowing with restaurants and bars. There are also summer festivals throughout the season. The downtown area features the Greenville Museum, several small theaters, the Peace Center for the Performing Arts and the BI-LO Center.

The Greenville area has wonderful dining, great coffee shops, and shopping malls. The area also offers great biking, hiking and camping in and along the Blue Ridge Mountains.
