FURMAN SUMMER KEYBOARD INSTITUTE - June 17-22.  For students with an intermediate piano skill. Primary areas of study: studio piano,organ, music technology. Secondary areas of study: ensemble piano, improvisation, music technology, organ, group classes, master classes, student recitals, faculty recitals and special topic sessions supplemented by daily recreational and social activities. THE RICHARD W. RILEY INSTITUTE FOR TEACHERS OF GOVERNMENT - July 9-14.  The objective of this institute is to provide secondary teachers of government, social studies and/or civics the opportunity to participate in an intensive two week program which will inform them of current events and major issues in politics.  Participants will spend one week participating in courses taught by political science professors from Furman University.  The second week will be spent in Washington, D.C. where participants will tour relevant sights, attend lectures and visit with political leaders.  For more information, contact Dr. Liz Smith at (864) 294-3674, e-mail liz.smith@furman.edu or Dr Don Gordon at (864) 294-3327, e-mail don.gordon@furman.edu or visit the Riley website at http://www.rileyinstitute.org.

SOUTH CAROLINA SUZUKI INSTITUTE - July 14-21.  The only program of its type in the state, the Suzuki Institute offers an opportunity for students, parents and teachers to observe, study and improve their knowledge and skills of the Suzuki String Method.  For: Suzuki-trained string and piano students, from Twinkle through Book 10.  Teacher workshops and training sessions available with or w/o graduate credit.  Certified by the SAA. SCHOOL
