Favorite activity in Greenville: With a city like Greenville, that offers so much to its residents, I hate to pick just one activity to highlight. Enjoying a Greenville Drive baseball game, people-watching downtown, wandering through any of the city’s festivals – all of these are such special memories I have made in Greenville. It’s truly a great place to live.
Favorite Greenville restaurant: Cookout. Yes, it is a fast-food joint. Yes, it has a drive-thru window. But yes, they have forty flavors of milkshakes that you can mix and match. And yes, you can get a meal with two sides for only $5.39. You can’t beat it!
Favorite Furman tradition: Homecoming is such a special time at Furman. Student groups set up shop on the Furman mall, building floats of chicken wire and tissue paper for the homecoming competition. The food trucks, bonfires, and music all make it an event to look forward to all year!
Best thing about Furman: Especially as a Furman alum, I appreciate so much the way the faculty and staff challenged me as a student. I rose to an occasion to which I did not previously think I could. And just as important as the challenges I was presented with as a student is the support I was also met with. I felt as though everyone in the Furman community took an interest in me in a holistic sense.
Hobbies/interests: I, like many others, always love a good day at the pool. I also enjoy playing soccer and volleyball, and lounging in front of a TV for an afternoon.
Most frequently asked question and answer: What is the true value of a Furman education? In the office of admission we fully recognize that Furman is an investment, financially and otherwise, in your education – an investment well-worth it. The true value of a Furman education extends so far beyond the classroom and the library. You can find the value of the Furman education in residence halls. You can find the value of a Furman education on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. You can find the true value of the Furman education in the car on the way to get fast food at 11:00pm. A Furman education is about the whole student experience we provide to our students.
Best piece of advice for prospective students: Ask questions! We love to answer them and want to share our university with you.
Random/fun fact about you: The “a” in my first name comes from an old family name. “Coady” was my great-grandmother’s last name. The kitchen table at my home is Florida is referred to as the Coady table because it belonged to her.
