Have plans for the summer? If you want to do something really incredible with your summer, come to Furman, stay on campus, and be a part of Summer Scholars. Rising high school seniors and juniors participate in classes led by Furman professors and get a taste of college life. Summer Scholars will be held:
- Week 1: July 9-15, 2017
- Week 2: July 16-22, 2017
Challenge your mind, make new friends, and have fun while taking part in lectures, discussions, debates, laboratory research, field trips, group and individual projects, and so much more!

Don’t miss your chance to experience the academic life and social scene at Furman. Any student applying for Summer Scholars must be a rising high school junior or senior with a 3.0 unweighted cumulative GPA or higher. To apply, you must attach a copy of your high school transcript as part of the application process, so please have a copy of your official (or unofficial) transcript ready when you begin the application.
We review applications on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once we have reviewed applications, we will send out acceptance letters with additional forms that must be submitted to attend our program. Please note: We do require students to have medical insurance in order to participate in Summer Scholars.
Tuition for the one-week program is $1,200. Tuition for both weeks is $2,200—a $200 discount. Tuition includes room and board, meals, field trips, social activities, and optional linens. Scholarships and financial assistance are not available for this program.

From leadership to pre-health, Summer Scholars has something for everyone. Each student has the option to indicate his/her preferred courses. Choose the class that sparks your interest.
CATCHING A FLIGHT?
With direct flights by major airlines, Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is located just 35 minutes from the Furman campus. Complimentary ground transportation to and from the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport is available for Summer Scholars participants.
