Furman Admission Network (FAN) interviews give you the opportunity to talk about all those things that make you unique—your talents, experiences and aspirations.
As an applicant, you are encouraged to participate in an informal FAN interview with a Furman alumnus or parent volunteer interviewer. You will be paired with an interviewer as close to your home area as possible (or, in the case of a boarding school or transfer student, near to your school). Once matched, your interviewer will reach out to you directly to schedule a mutually convenient time and place to meet, and the interview will take place preferably in person (typically at a local coffee shop or library). Due to interviewer availability, you may also interview by phone or Skype (which is particularly helpful if you are an international applicant). Please note that we do not offer on-campus interviews.
Though a FAN interview is an optional part of the application process, the Admission Committee strongly urges every applicant to participate. These informal interviews allow you to speak with someone who knows Furman personally and to see if Furman is the right fit for you. It also allows us to get to know you in ways that your application may not have revealed.
Request an interview
To request a FAN Interview, please complete the online FAN Interview Request Form before the deadline below. When you submit your request you will receive a confirmation email with additional information about the interview process – please read it thoroughly so that you will know what to expect.
We encourage you to submit your interview request early in your admission process, but please note that we will not work to match you with an interviewer until we confirm that we have received your Common Application as well. If you submit your interview request before your Common Application, we will keep your interview request on file – please do not submit an interview request more than once.
If you have any questions about this process, you may email FANManager@furman.edu.
