The Furman campus is a convenient place to walk and bike. If you plan to be at Furman for awhile, you might consider buying a bicycle, helmet and lock–it's possible to buy all three for $100. If you don't want to purchase a bike, you can rent a bike. University Square, which has a grocery store, a few restaurants and a barber shop, is a short ride from campus. By leaving through the gate of Furman by Timmons Arena and turning left, you will go up a hill and be at the shopping center. However, this road is sometimes busy with car traffic so please go during daylight hours, travel with a friend, and stay off of the pavement when possible to remain safe from cars.
