Class of 2016
My favorite Furman tradition is when some professors come to midnight breakfast before finals. People are having to burn midnight oil to study so it's nice that they encourage you by providing some nighttime snacks.
Life as a Psychology Major
- Why did you decide to come to Furman?
Summer research. You get to do what you like and pick a topic of your choice and do all the background research. You work closely with the professors and get to know them really well.
- Favorite professor:
Abnormal psychology. It's the study of mental disorders so we learned about depressive and anxiety disorders and how its important to reduce stigma around them and accept it as something a person can't control.
Best of List
- Best study location:
The library. Because other people study there so when I want to play and take a break other people are hard working hard so it encourages me to work hard too, but if I'm in my room ill relax and not do my work.
- Best thing about Greenville:
- Biggest challenge:
Language because I'm an international student. I'm overcoming that by just communicating with other people and engaging in different clubs. There are many Chinese students at Furman, but if I stay in my comfort zone I'll never get practice speaking.
- Favorite place to eat:
- Best campus dining spot:
My classes are in the morning so after lunch I take a nap. I think that's important because then I'm more productive in the afternoon. You also have to have a goal and set a time limit to complete it.
- Making friends:
When I first came to Furman I tried very hard and I told myself I needed to come out of my comfort zone, but then I realized I just need to be myself.
