Major Requirements Psychology Furman University

We offer both the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in psychology. Our faculty also contribute to the neuroscience major

To graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in psychology, you will need a grade point average of 2.00 or higher in all psychology major courses.

Additionally, all majors must complete the Major Field Test, a standardized test in psychology, during their senior year.

B.A. in psychology requirements

  • PSY-111, 201, 202
  • 8 additional courses as specified by the department

B.S. in psychology requirements

  • PSY-111, 201, 202
  • 8 additional courses as specified by the department
  • MTH-141 or 150

And at least two of the following:

  • BIO-111, 221
  • CHM-110, 115, 120
  • EES-110, 112, 113
  • PHY-111, 112
  • PSY-320 or SUS-120

It is also recommended that all majors complete as many of the following courses as possible:

  • BIO-111, 221, and 322
  • COM-101
  • CSC-105
  • ENG-210
  • MTH- 241, and
  • PHL-101
