Prospective Students Furman University

If you want to make a difference in the world, you have to understand the world. When you study philosophy at Furman, you’ll have access to the highest number of culturally diverse courses in the country in addition to courses that explore the sciences, arts, and humanities.

Philosophy at Furman isn’t a spectator sport. Our professors want to hear your arguments and opinions. You’ll travel with your professors around campus, into the community, and throughout the world to experience real-world examples of philosophy at work.

We’ve also added a senior honor’s thesis program to help our students if they want to continue with advanced philosophical study in graduate school. You can apply for the program your junior year and spend your senior year working closely with a professor on a topic. The end result is a paper you’ll hopefully be able to submit for publication and present publicly at conferences.
