Recently appointed to the Faculty of Music at Furman University, clarinetist Cecilia Kang is internationally active as a performer and educator. She has previously held teaching positions at North Dakota State University (ND) and Concordia University (MI). During the summers, she has also served as clarinet artist faculty at Grumo Music Festival (Italy), Luzerne Music Center (NY) and Bay View Music Festival (MI).
A dynamic chamber musician, she has collaborated with the St. Lawrence String Quartet, and members of the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Danish Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. She has also appeared at Thy Chamber Music Festival (Denmark), IMPULS Contemporary Music Festival (Austria), Castleton Festival (USA), Collingwood Music Festival (Canada), and Banff Centre (Canada).
Dedicated to pedagogy, Dr. Kang has presented master classes and recitals in the United States and abroad at institutions including the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Oklahoma State University, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the University of Tennesee, Virginia Tech University (USA), Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Shen Yang Conservatory of Music (China), Jeonju University (South Korea), the University of Toronto, the University of Western Ontario, and the University of Manitoba (Canada).
Dr. Kang has presented at conferences hosted by the Music Educators Associations, the College Music Society, the International Clarinet Association and the International Clarinet and Saxophone Festival. She has also served on judging panels for MTNA and International Clarinet Association. She is a Vandoren and Buffet Crampon Performing Artist.
