Anne Culberson has been a Lecturer in German and French at Furman
University since 2005. She grew up in Strasbourg, France. While an
undergraduate at Georgetown University, Anne received
a Rotary International Scholarship and spent a year at the
Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in München, Germany. She completed her
M.A. at Brown University.
Anne worked 7 years at Michelin as editor for travel publications
including Green Guides of New York and Chicago. For 3 years she guided
the setup of HR systems for the US startup of a German automotive plant.
She served 5 years as VP of Administration for
Greenville’s Chamber of Commerce.
At Furman, Anne was selected as one of the best loved and appreciated teachers in 2007.
Experience in France and Germany:
- Anne was raised and educated in France from the age of 1 to 13, when
she moved to the United States. She spent many vacations in Germany and
studied in Rothenburg ob der Tauber and in München, Germany.
- Anne is the co-director of Furman University’s Berlin Study Away Program (Fall 2013)
