I'm Mathilde, the French Language House assistant, coming all the way from France, and more specifically from Normandie (thanks for WWII by the way), to show you my culture and my language!
Back in France I have a masters degree in English (this doesn't mean my English is perfect!) and I'll be teaching English from September 2015 in secondary schools. This experience in Furman was the opportunity for me to take a year off between my studies and my future teaching career. I'm really excited to be here and get the chance to share my culture to you guys.
Throughout the year, I'll be organizing activities in relation with France (culinary workshops, games, movie nights, hikes in French,...), you all are more than welcome to come to these events!
I'm a fan of outdoors activities and sports generally speaking. I've been playing badminton for 10 years and I love climbing, swimming, jogging, dancing... anything really but soccer! I also like music, I'd be happy to show some French tunes that I like or that are popular in France.
Every week, three times a week, at the Pden, there will be "cafés français":
- Mondays at 3:30
- Wednesdays at 2:30
- Thursdays at 2:30
If you're interested in coming but can't make it at these times, feel free to send me an email at email@example.com and we can meet up at another time!
Every Thursday night at 8pm, in North Village A302, I'll be also playing a French movie with English subtitles!
I can't wait to meet you all!
