Furman students enjoy access to a broad range of programs to study away from our Greenville campus.
The Department of Mathematics offers Math and the Mouse: Explorations of Mathematics and Science in Walt Disney World as a study away May Experience course. This course is open to students in all majors, but has a calculus prerequisite (MTH-141, 145, 150, or equivalent). Contact Dr. Bouzarth, Dr. Harris, or Dr. Hutson for more information or visit the 2016 course blog. Information about the May 2018 program, including info session dates and application deadlines will be posted soon.
Our students have been successful in attending Budapest Semesters in Mathematics. This prestigious independent program attracts students from across the United States who compete for a chance to spend a semester in Budapest, the capital of Hungary and one of the great European cities. Talk to one of your professors about applying.
Professors in the Mathematics department can also help you apply for Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programs hosted by universities throughout the U.S.
Furman’s Study Away and International Education program includes additional opportunities to study in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central and South America. In recent years, our majors have studied in Spain, Chile, France, Scotland, England, Italy, Hungary, and Japan.
