Research Experience for STEM Teachers

This program [funded through our Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) grant 2008-2012] provided middle and high school STEM teachers an intensive 6-week research experience (~40 hours/week) under the direction of a Furman math or science faculty mentor. Teachers were directed in carrying out unique, individualized research projects resulting in scientific presentation at the RET poster session (held in mid-July) and curricular connection at their home school during the following academic year.  A $3000 stipend was provided and participants were eligible to enroll in a graduate level PD course connected to their research (variable credit 4-6 hours).  

While the HHMI funding for this program will end in August 2012, individuals with an interest in participating in a program of this type are encouraged to inquire about opportunities for the upcoming summer:
