Furman Engaged 2011 !

2011 Program

The third annual university-wide celebration of engaged learning activities was held on Friday, April 8, 2011.  More than 500 students, representing every academic department, were featured in the broad array of activities.  Nearly 300 students participated in presentations, performances, and/or demonstrations that were featured during 45 sessions held throughout the day.  Over 200 posters (created by over 250 students) were on display throughout the day in the gymnasium in the Physical Activities Center (PAC) and nearly 1000 visitors came to the PAC to view the posters and talk with the student researchers and interns.

The Year of Global Citizenship (YGC) sponsored an open-dialogue forum in Kohrt Commons alongside Furman University International Students Association’s (FUISA) third annual food banquet.  Departmental posters presenting study away, internship and research opportunities were on display in Kohrt Commons throughout the day.

Reaching beyond our campus, undergraduates from the University of Florida (9 presenting) and Claflin Univeristy (12 attending) were in attendance.  Also - for the 2nd staright year, middle school mentees (part of the HHMI Mentors program) from Hughes Academy Middle (10) and Legacy Charter (12) enjoyed a full day of events at Furman.
