Code of Conduct

As a participant in federal loan programs, Furman University prohibits a conflict of interest with the responsibilities of an officer, employee, or agent of the university with respect to student education loans. Federal law specifies that the code shall be displayed prominently on the institution’s website and that all officers, employees and agents with responsibilities related to education loans be annually informed of the provisions of the code of conduct.

Verification Policy

Verification is the confirmation through documentation that the information provided on a student's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is correct. If a student's FAFSA is selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, colleges and universities are required to verify or confirm the data reported by students and parent(s).

Student Information Release

Furman University creates and maintains a considerable amount of information pertaining directly to each student enrolled. Almost all of this information is contained in records protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a federal statute passed into law in 1974 that provides the basis for dealing with student records at post-secondary educational institutions.
