National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research based Master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions. This award provides a tuition grant and stipend for three years of graduate studies. Students typically apply for this award while they are seniors at Furman and chemistry majors have been highly successful in obtaining this award.

Beckman Scholars

The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation annually selects about a dozen schools for this prestigious award that provides undergraduates and faculty unique opportunities for excellence through sustained, in-depth laboratory research experiences. The chemistry department at Furman has received continuous funding since the inception of the program. Each year, the chemistry department selects one or two student(s) to receive this award in support of the student/faculty research project.

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation is committed to providing a source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to purse research careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
