Faculty sEMINAR

The faculty seminars, offered every other year, have been essential to the sustenance of vocational dialogue among faculty and between faculty and students. Though the faculty members teach and mentor the students that pass through the university each year, they also remain the focus for institutional memory and vision. Thus, we believe that cultivating faculty understanding of the Center's mission and purpose is highly worthwhile. An institutional sense of community is also enhanced significantly through these seminars. The seminars consist of two extended sessions (one week in August and three full days the following June), five sessions (about two hours each) during the academic year, and outside study and in-session leadership opportunities.

Faculty/Staff Dinner Dialogue

To continue cultivating a climate of vocational interest and a space for discussion, we offer one event each year (usually during spring term) that focuses attention on an issue of interest to faculty. These dinner dialogue occasions provide an opportunity for conversations across disciplines about common concerns that shape the lives of our students. These dinner dialogues are free and open to all Furman faculty, though space is limited.
