Once a year, students are invited to participate in a weekend-long retreat at Mepkin Abbey in Moncks Corner, South Carolina (near Charleston) or the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Georgia. This small group of students and participating faculty and staff, immerse themselves in the contemplative life of monastic community. Students of all traditions are welcome to participate in various practices while on retreat, including extended silence and spiritual direction. The Abbeys provide beautiful natural spaces, deep traditions, and plenty of resources for students on retreat.

This fall, the Cothran Center will be taking Furman students to Mepkin Abbey during the weekend of October 13-15, 2017, for a silent prayer retreat entitled "Light Sitting in Light." To find out more information, please contact Rolyn Rollins or Eric Cain.
