A good teacher challenges students.
I require a substantial effort from each of my students. I create an
atmosphere of rigorous intellectual debate. My students must actively
participate in class. My course evaluations include the following
question: How challenging was this course in comparison to others in
the Business (MBA) program? I receive scores from 4.5 to 4.8 of 5.0 in
My "prime directive" is to make the world a better place.
I view teaching as one of the best ways to positively affect the world.
Our society has made incredible progress, yet not everyone has shared
equally in that progress. With progress comes responsibility, especially
the responsibility to educate and provide a quality environment for
learning. Education also opens perspectives. I try my best to provide
new perspectives to the students. My experience in the third world and
in non-academic jobs adds significantly to my courses. I also
especially enjoy offering courses that take students to Guatemala.
Good courses are fun. Good teachers enjoy their work.
I teach because I love it. I try to set an example with my enthusiasm.
It is important that students enjoy their experience as well.
