As a recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award, the most prestigious teaching award given to graduate teaching assistants at the University of Washington, Dr. Sachi Schmidt-Hori hoped to teach at a liberal arts college after graduation. Being able to teach Japan-related courses at Furman University is a dream come true for Schmidt-Hori. This summer, she will spend three months at the University of Washington as a visiting scholar to develop Furman's first Asian linguistics course: Languages of Asia. She is very excited to be here and looks forward to being a part of this ever-growing department.
