Thompson Art Gallery Furman University

The Thompson Art Gallery features a variety of exhibitions throughout the academic year. In addition to both solo and group shows, we also highlight our seniors' work with a Senior Thesis Exhibition at the end of the school year.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed some holidays.

Call for Gallery Proposals

The Thompson Art Gallery invites established artists to submit a proposal for solo exhibitions during the 2016-18 academic years. The exhibition space is approximately 900 square feet with solo exhibitions typically running for 4-6 week periods.  The gallery committee will consider all media.  Art work will be insured by the university while on display.  Shipping costs will be the responsibility of the artist.

Gallery submissions should follow the guidelines below.

A complete proposal should include:

  • Artist statement (Word or PDF) labeled with last name.  For example:  Warhol_statement.pdf

  • CV (Word or PDF) labeled with last name.  For example:  Warhol_CV.pdf

  • 15-20 images presented in Powerpoint or PDF file.  Include  information (title, size, medium, year) for each image.  Image file should contain artist name.   For example:  Warhol_Images.pdf or Warhol_Images.pptx

  • Deadline to apply is December 14, 2015.

America Now and Here
A collection of photographic images by Vik Muniz, Andres Serrano, Sally Mann, Eric Fischl and others. This exhibition is being featured during the Southeast Regional Society for Photographic Education (SPE) conference, which will be held in Greenville Nov. 6-8, at the Fine Arts Center.  Furman University is a sponsor of the SPE conference.
