A major consists of at least eight courses and must include:

  • two courses numbered 200 or greater from a single religious tradition,
  • two more courses numbered 200 or greater from another religious tradition or one course from another religious tradition and a comparative course or two comparative courses
  • at least three more courses in religion
  • REL-475, and
  • attendance at the department colloquium
each spring

A first year seminar may contribute to major requirements subject to approval from the department, but no more than two introductory (numbered below 200) courses may be used to fulfill major requirements. REL-125 will not normally contribute to a major in the discipline.
The specific courses included for completion of the major are agreed upon in consultation with the department chair.
