A major consists of at least eight courses and must include:
- two courses numbered 200 or greater from a single religious tradition,
- two more courses numbered 200 or greater from another religious tradition or one course from another religious tradition and a comparative course or two comparative courses
- at least three more courses in religion
- REL-475, and
- attendance at the department colloquium
REL-101, 111, 125, or a first year seminar may contribute to major requirements subject to approval from the department, but no more than two introductory (numbered below 200) courses may be used to fulfill major requirements. Two two-credit May Experience courses taught by members may be considered as a single course for meeting major requirements.
The specific courses included for completion of the major are agreed upon in consultation with the department chair.
